Browse the Fair
The Northeast Minneapolis boutique for locally made goodies -- I Like You
-- has opened up shop at the State Fair (through Monday, lower level of the Grandstand, St. Paul). Check out one-of-a-kind necklaces, earrings, and felt pins and limited edition tees such as this onesie. Cheese curds, anyone?
Bargain shoppers have a chance to get some great deals at the Len Druskin
pop-up sale (Bonaventure Mall, near Ridgedale, next to Bacio, Minnetonka). Through September 12, check out clearance items, including an extensive 75 percent section of men's and women's clothing and accessories. (Hours: Through Sept 4, 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.; Sept. 5 to Sept. 6, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sept. 7 to Sept. 11, 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.; Sept. 12, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.)
The impressive production of The Scottsboro Boys
is both easy and difficult to watch. With top notch performances, the slick musical was written by the famed songwriting team behind "Chicago" and choreographed by the woman behind "The Producers." Tackling an infamous chapter in American racism with song and dance is a contradiction, for sure. Catch the show before it moves to Broadway in October. (New York Magazine lists it in its list of top 20 most anticipated shows
of the season.)
