Love is in the air. Or is it just foggy?
No matter. Keep that feeling alive at a performance of Brief Encounter, currently at the Guthrie.
The interpretation of Noel Coward's play/movie by Kneehigh Theatre is incredibly moving. The story, about the fleeting, impossible love affair between a married doctor and a married homemaker he meets in a railway station is also funny, clever and simply entertaining.
From the moment it starts, you'll feel like you're in the action (no spoilers here, but trust us). As actors dance, sing, play instruments and recite the equivalent of theatrical poetry, there are cool effects that blur the line between theater and film and the audience make it a production unlike anything we've seen on the stage.
You might get swept up in the intense drama and forget where you are.
Which is just how great romances should be.
Brief Encounter, through April 3, at the Guthrie Theater, 818 South 2nd St, Mpls, 612-377-2224.
